Start Time: 7am Mass Start (there will be no wave starts)
Aid Station: There will be an aid station at the bottom of Lift 3 (top of Spar Gulch) with Skratch and water. Please do not throw your used cups on the ground – deposit them in the garbage.
Breakfast: A Full Breakfast (eggs, potatoes, choice sausage/bacon, pancake & coffee) will be provided to participants at the Sundeck and is included in the registration fee.
Gear Shuttle: There will be a gear shuttle. Please drop your bag by the Gear Shuttle Sign on the Gondola Buidling.
Bathrooms: will be available at the start (at approx. 6:00am) and at the finish (at approximately 8am).
Downloading / Descending Aspen Mountain: Downloading on the Gondola is available. If you wish to descend/ski down the mountain before 9am, you can only do so on skis by following the designated route (Copper, Copper Bowl, and Little Nell).
Aspen Mountain Uphill Rules: An uphill pass is not required for this event. All participants are required to turn around (wherever you are) if you have not reached the top by 9am.
Spectators: Spectator access on gondola is limited to volunteers and those helping with the gear shuttle – can get on between 7-7:05am.
Results & Awards: here will be an awards ceremony and pre-drawn raffle at the Sundeck at approximately 9:15. Results will be announced for top 3 overall male and female, top 3 male and female by category/gear choice (skis or open) and top 5 overall for the teams. There will not be age group winners announced. Results will be posted online by overall, by gender and by age group/category.
Raffle: There will be a raffle. Names will be pre-drawn and available at the Sundeck after the race.
Same course! The America’s Uphill begins at the base of Little Nell and climbs 3267 feet up the Aspen Mountain ski area finishing at the Sundeck Restaurant at an elevation of 11,212 feet. The course follows Little Nell to the Bell Mountain Chair and then up Bingo Slot to Spar Gulch. The long steep climb up Spar continues to the base of Ajax Express (Lift 3). From there, there’s a small reprieve on Tortilla Flats before the climb begins again in earnest. At this point, the race follows a maze of trails starting up Deer Park to Pussyfoot, Silverbell, and Easy Chair, finally topping out at the Sundeck. Inspection of the course prior to race day is recommended. The course will be flagged with pin flags.
Participation Limit: 200 people
Two Categories/Gear Choices: Skis (Track, telemark, AT, BC) & Open (traction devices, snowshoes, running shoes, etc)
Age Groups: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
Teams: Being part of a team is optional. The top 5 times on a team will be calculated for these results.
Registration: Registration will be available online only starting at 7pm Wednesday 1/17 and continue to 8am 3/15 or until the race capacity is met. Registration is through events.com so you may consider setting up an account before registration begins. There is no in-person registration or race day registration.
Waivers: All participants are required to sign a waiver for their registration on events.com. You should register for yourself so you can sign the waiver. You will be contacted by email if you do not sign a waiver. If you do not sign a waiver, you will not be allowed to participate.
Cost: $70 (includes t-shirt, breakfast, raffle and pain)
Bib/Timing Chip Pick-up: Bibs will be available for pickup from 10-5pm at the Ute Mountaineer on Friday, March 15 and at the race start from 6:15-6:50. Your timing chip is on your bib – if you lose your bib, there is no replacement bib available. Please make sure your bib is visible at the finish and start.
